Daar Dinners: Celebrating the unsung hero of Gujarati cuisine.
You know it as daal but at home, we call it daar.
Gujarati tuvar daar (yellow split lentils) is a blend of tangy and spicy flavours with a subtle sweetness. What differentiates our Gujarati daar from its other counterparts is the cooking process and the texture. Each time we share it with our guests at a Khao Suppers, it never ceases to amaze us how people react to it!
We've been partnering with local East Londoners, Host of Leyton for this series and have been holding Daar Dinners since March 2023, with another in May and the next one in July.
